A Broken World

It all just feels so broken
Shards of separation
Scattered sharp and dirty
Across the well-worn paths
Of those who tread there
Simply minding their business
Beggars and bankers
Standing in the streets
Crying out to the universe
“What has happened here?”
Royals and presidents
Shake their heads and
Wag their blaming fingers
Offering no solution at all
While the only god I can imagine
Looks out onto the world
And weeps bitterly
At what it has become
